About the artist

Zak Mustille (b. 2003) is a scholarship student in the Pre-College Division at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where he studies piano with Machiko Kobialka and composition with Arkadi Serper. Most recently, Zak won second prize in the ENKOR International Music Competition (Piano, 7th Edition), and was named a 2020 Ross McKee Competition Young Artist. Zak has performed in master classes with Ruth Slenczynska, Frank Wiens, Peter Mack, Dennis Alexander, and Craig Richey. As a composer, Zak has written works for solo piano as well as chamber music ensembles. His violin solo piece won 2020’s Kris Getz Composition Competition at the SFCM Pre-College, and his string trio earned the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players’ Victor Salvo Music Composition Scholarship. Beyond classical music, Zak enjoys playing Japanese taiko drums as part of Diablo Taiko in Walnut Creek, CA.
